Just finished a book cover design for Nathan Roche. Was fun to do. Will reveal the full thing when it is released.
Steve Towson, Cygnus Olor artwork process

Steve approached me last year to design the final Steve Towson & The Conscripts EP ever! I was extremely excited and honored as I have been following Steve’s work for about 10 years, since I first reviewed his CD ‘In a shattered state’ for my first issue of Demolish zine, back when I was about 14 years old.
He pretty much gave me free rein to do what I felt was appropriate for the CD. The title of the CD is ‘Cygnus Olor’. Which was inspired by the myth of the bird, the Mute Swan. I played with the concept of mute. And stumbled onto the symbol for mute-on and mute-off. Which kind of looks like and E on its side. I decided that putting this CD on and playing it loud is the same as mute-off, blasting it ferociously symbolised by the flames.
I made a mute-off sculpture out of 100 year old hardwood (which is housed in Steve back yard now) and took it up to Steve’s house in Rosewood, along with photographer David Kan, we dowsed it in petrol and set it alight. The photo’s turned out great and when printed along with the spot UV over the flames and text added to the simple beauty.
Here are the concept drawings:

Here’s some photo’s from the photo shoot:
