I am in a loose (in every sense of the word) artist collective with Clint and Shane. It is called Trouble Collective. We have already been inked with the initials, but now that the Trouble Collective’s first zine has dropped it feels official!
The zine is absolutely beautiful and ugly at the same time. Limited to 55 copies, hand screen printed cover, free sticker or patch and filled with months of workings from all. If you know what is good for you, you will email clint to get a copy. They are three bucksish. (clinton.searston [at] hotmail.com)

Clint also sent me a shirt. Not sure if you can buy these though:

ONLY 20 bucks!
It’s a two colour riso print on recycled stock. Each poster comes signed and number. AVAILABLE NOW!

Steve approached me last year to design the final Steve Towson & The Conscripts EP ever! I was extremely excited and honored as I have been following Steve’s work for about 10 years, since I first reviewed his CD ‘In a shattered state’ for my first issue of Demolish zine, back when I was about 14 years old.
He pretty much gave me free rein to do what I felt was appropriate for the CD. The title of the CD is ‘Cygnus Olor’. Which was inspired by the myth of the bird, the Mute Swan. I played with the concept of mute. And stumbled onto the symbol for mute-on and mute-off. Which kind of looks like and E on its side. I decided that putting this CD on and playing it loud is the same as mute-off, blasting it ferociously symbolised by the flames.
I made a mute-off sculpture out of 100 year old hardwood (which is housed in Steve back yard now) and took it up to Steve’s house in Rosewood, along with photographer David Kan, we dowsed it in petrol and set it alight. The photo’s turned out great and when printed along with the spot UV over the flames and text added to the simple beauty.
Here are the concept drawings:

Here’s some photo’s from the photo shoot:

The gig was on a few nights ago. Here are a few snaps from the show. More coming from film camera in coming week. It was a great gig! Awesome, diverse local bands supported. Check out Yumi. They killed it!

The kids outside the show.

A great psych-rock band: Under the Velvet Sky.

Yumi.

I’m sitting at the airport about to get on a plane back to Malaysia. I really enjoyed my time here in Singapore. It is a beautiful, green, intelligently designed place. The locals are really funny too—great witty sense of humor! There’s not much street art here, but it almost doesn’t need it, if that makes sense?

James, thanks for showing us around!

Steve Towson is headlining a show at The Substation in Singapore tonight. It should be a cool gig.

Ricecooker is this small, awesome punk record store in KL. Matt who works there is the nicest guy you’ll ever meet! We’ve been hanging listening to heaps of asian music, so much good stuff here!

Matt on the right.

There’s this little metal store next door too.
Exciting news; Steve Towson and I are heading over to Asia in 2 weeks.
We will be going to:
Malaysia: 30th Sept — 5th Oct
Philippines: 5th Oct —12th Oct
Singapore: 12th Oct — 15th Oct
Indonesia: 15th Oct — 19th Oct
I will be documenting it, by photographing and filming where possible. I will be turning the footage into a documentary. I’m hoping to capture the kids that come out for the shows.

Which Side Are You On?
Then I’m off to France and moving to Germany to be with Anthea!
